Overview

There are 2 types of non-commercial timber permits which allow Albertans to cut trees for personal use from designated areas on public land:

Is free.
Valid for 30 days.
Can be obtained instantly online.

Costs $21 per year plus damage deposit, timber dues and other potential fees.
Valid for up to 12 months.
Must be obtained in person at one of 10 forest area offices.
