Overview

Municipalities can attract investment and development by offering property tax incentives to business and industry.

Multi-year tax incentives give municipalities the tools they need to:

  • encourage economic development
  • reducing the burden of starting a new business
  • redevelop brownfield properties
  • revitalize communities

Benefits

Municipalities can offer multi-year tax exemptions, reductions or deferrals for non-residential properties in order to attract investment, development and revitalization.

Municipal councils are able to pass bylaws establishing tax incentive programs.

Property owners, or prospective property owners, will apply to the municipality
