Overview
We collected feedback from pesticide vendors to inform improvements to how pesticide sales data is collected. Pesticide sales in Alberta are subject to reporting regulations and monitoring by the Alberta government since 1993. Timely and accurate reporting of pesticide sales data is vital in ensuring that Alberta has the appropriate regulatory framework in place for pesticides.

Input received
An informational webinar was held on December 3, 2025, for holders of pesticide vendor registrations and Agrochemical Warehousing Standards Association (AWSA) certificates. Stakeholders shared their feedback through an online survey between November 20, 2025, to January 9, 2026 to help us:
- improve pesticide sales data collection processes
- ensure timely and accurate data submissions from vendors
Outcomes
Input will help inform future updates to the Pesticide (Ministerial) Regulations, including potential requirements to report pest control product numbers.
Pest control product numbers are unique identifiers assigned to pesticide products by Health Canada and are key to improving data accuracy.
