Change of Operating Status
Carriers may apply to change their operating status if they are making long term changes to their company.
If a carrier changes their Operating Status, they will be required to comply with different regulatory requirements.

How to apply
Once a carrier is federally regulated, applicable federal legislation applies to all of their National Safety Code regulated vehicles and drivers, including those that never leave Alberta.
Your request for a change in operating status will be considered if you complete and submit:
Where a corporate name or surname has changed, the carrier is required to amend the name on their current Safety Fitness Certificate and / or Operating Authority Certificate.
Email and online correspondence
Starting March 9, 2020, some correspondence issued by Alberta Transportation, such as SFCs and certain letters, will be available for carriers to access online through Alberta Transportation Online Services.
Access is provided by the existing Carrier/Public Profile service through a new Carrier Document Portal service. Not all documents will be available online as some will continue to be delivered by email with attachments and by mail.
