COVID-19 Updates: Taking steps to return to normal.
Stakeholders shared their input on ways to reduce red tape and improve legislation for cooperatives in Alberta.
We gathered feedback from stakeholders on measures being proposed to further reduce red tape and modernize the Cooperatives Act and Cooperatives Regulation.
In March 2021, the Cooperatives Act was amended to allow virtual meetings and electronic voting for cooperatives, unless bylaws stated otherwise. We’re committed to building on these amendments and continuing to improve legislation to create a more flexible, efficient and effective system.
Input collected will help identify issues related to the current framework and additional ways we can cut red tape to help cooperatives operate more efficiently.
