Long-term planning, design and construction activities for Alberta’s highway network.

Introduction

Major transportation projects come from the Provincial Construction Program, which is released as part of the Government of Alberta’s annual budget. The plan includes:

  • major capital projects scheduled over the next 3 years
  • capital maintenance and renewal (bridge construction and highway rehabilitation) projects scheduled over the next 3 years
  • water management infrastructure projects scheduled over the next 3 years
  • slide repair projects scheduled over the next year

Major capital projects

This section provides updates to ongoing construction and transportation projects within Alberta’s larger cities. Major capital projects also include water projects such as McGregor Reservoir and Springbank Off-stream Reservoir.

Projects by region

Central region

Central Region is responsible for numerous construction projects and the management of 10,000 kilometres of highway in Central Alberta.

North Central region

North Central Region is responsible for a variety of construction projects and the management of numerous highways.

Peace region

Peace Region is responsible for the management of over 5,000 kilometres of highway and 780 bridge files.

South region

Southern Region is responsible for the delivery of a variety of highway construction projects and maintenance services.
