    • Workplace Training will connect unemployed Albertans to employers through either On-the-Job Training (OTJ) or Paid Work Experience (PWE). The program will enable unemployed Albertans to acquire essential skills and occupation-related skills required in the local labour market better enabling them to find and maintain employment. Workplace Training (WPT) is an individual-centered program where decisions are made to best support the needs of the individual. The intent is also to provide incremental training and work experience that would not otherwise occur. Employers are selected based on their ability to provide On-the-Job training or to facilitate the Paid Work Experience component and to provide ongoing employment once the Workplace Training contract is completed.

    • The Tech Skills to Employment Program at Bow Valley College (BVC) is a 26-week program including 16 weeks of classroom training followed by 10 weeks of work experience with an employer. Content includes elective courses that will be tailored to individual career goals. The course delivery methods combine self-paced online learning with in-class instructor support, allowing participants to progress through the program via different pathways depending on their skill level upon entry. The program will include computer proficiencies, information technology competencies, employment preparation skills, and work experience. The target occupations are database administration, computer programming, business analytics, network security, and virtual machine software. Other related occupations at a similar level may also be included.

    • Supply Chain Training and Employment Program (Integrated Training) – Participants will benefit from a competency-based education model that is highly customized to meet the needs of Albertans in the Calgary region. Participants will receive relevant training in the dynamic Supply Chain industry. The program includes for everyone work experience and crucial core training in areas that are desired by Supply Chain employers as well as provides the option for participants to select specialized training streams of focus in Transportation (Class 3), Material Handling/Equipment Operation, Administration, or Frontline Supervision if desired and applicable to their career goals and labour demand. Training length will vary according to goals of each individual, but will range from 8 to 26 weeks.
    • WORKinYYC (Career and Employment Information Services and Workplace Training) – Clients in receipt of Income Support will receive a maximum of 18 weeks of individually focused training and work experience to secure sustainable full-time employment. The program will utilize a series of specialized workshops and one-to-one services to prepare for employment. The client will be matched with a potential employment opportunity and will be assisted with creating a workplace training contract for on the job training or paid work experience. Supplemental training may be arranged to provide additional basic skills to meet minimal job entry requirements. Clients will receive support to maintain employment once employed.

    • Transition to Employment Services provides job ready clients, up to 12 weeks of assistance with their job search skills. Clients must be ready to accept any reasonable employment and will receive support in the areas of job search, job maintenance and basic computer training (as needed). The goal of this service is to help unemployed clients return to the workforce as quickly as possible.
    • Workplace Training (WT) provides an employer-delivered work-site training program that enables on-site training for unemployed Albertans who are having difficulty entering the workforce due to a lack of skills.
    • Construction Pre-Trades Integrated Training Program (IT) provides seventeen weeks of training in the pre-trades construction industry. Training includes employment preparation and essential skills training, and occupational skills training and work experience placements.
    • Alternatives to Careers in Energy - Transition to Employment Services and Workplace Training Services program targeted for unemployed Albertans impacted by the oil and gas decline. Participants may have limited experience as a result of not having work experience outside of the oil and gas sector, may be lacking the minimum qualifications to obtain employment in a desired occupation and are interested in obtaining employment in an industry outside of the energy sector. Services are individualized to each client and are designed to enable individuals to acquire job-related skills utilizing employer delivered on-the-job training and paid work experience.
