Request a report
If you have been in a collision, the driver copy of the collision report is all that is needed to start your insurance claim. You can obtain your free driver copy from the Online Collision Report System website.
If you receive an unauthorized or not available message, enforcement may still be investigating the collision and have not yet released the report.
If a report is not available at the Online Collision Report System website, then the police copy of the report is also not available.
Order police copy of collision report
The driver copy of the Collision Report Form contains limited collision information, while the police copy of the Collision Report Form contains all the available collision information. The police copy can be ordered through My Alberta Services for a $15 fee.
The police copy does not provide any witness statements or photographs taken by enforcement, or if charges have been laid.
Report My Collision online service
Report My Collision is a convenient new electronic way to report most types of vehicle collisions 24/7 from any mobile device, laptop or desktop computer. It allows you to report collisions online in selected areas. See where Report My Collision is available
There are 2 other options to report collisions: in-person at a police station or collision reporting centre, both of which can sometimes take several hours or days to complete.
Eligibility criteria
The following criteria are required to report a vehicle collision via Report my Collision:
- You must hold a valid Alberta driver’s license.
- You must have an Alberta.ca account – basic accounts will require verification before submitting the collision report.
- The collision must have occurred in Alberta and involve a passenger vehicle.
- Commercially registered vehicles are not accepted at this time.
Eligible collisions
You can report the following kinds of collisions using Report my Collision:
- single-vehicle collisions with no injuries, fatalities, or existing police reports
- hit-and-run collisions involving a parked vehicle that was struck, and no information or evidence is available about the offending driver or vehicle
How the online collision reporting works
1. Submitting a collision report through Report my Collision
Following a collision, you may log into Report my Collision to enter the collision details. Once you have submitted the collision report, the responsible law enforcement agency (for example, Calgary Police Services, RCMP, First Nations or Tribal Police) will review the electronic report.
2. Review process and digital damage sticker issuance
If the responsible law enforcement agency approves the report, a digital damage sticker will appear in your Report my Collision dashboard. The digital damage sticker can be shown to insurance companies and autobody shops to process claims and begin vehicle repairs. If the responsible law enforcement agency rejects the collision report, you will be notified to follow up in person.
