Overview

Starting at the end of January 2019, annual report reminders will be sent by email to limited liability partnerships where there is an email address on record. Annual report reminders are sent about 2 weeks before the report is due. The reminders will continue to be sent by regular mail when there is no email address on file or when there is a notice because the previous year's annual report has not been filed.

An email address will be required when registering any new trade name (sole proprietorship), partnership, limited partnership, or limited liability partnership under the Partnership Act. An email address will also be required when updating a sole proprietor or a partner in any type of partnership, or when filing an address change or annual report for a limited liability partnership.

A business name doesn’t have a legal existence in its own right. It’s simply a name used by one or more persons to represent their business to the public. That means the sole proprietor or partners are personally responsible for the debts and obligations of the business.
