About the project
During his residency, John will complete a community songwriting project entitled ‘Everyone Has a Story.’ He will host songwriting workshops across 10 Alberta communities where participants will explore the art of song craft, gain insight into John’s creative process and be empowered to share their personal stories through music.
By guiding participants through the steps of idea generation, lyric writing, song composition and group sharing, John will cultivate both artistic expression and a sense of shared community. Each workshop will conclude with a participant listening session or community performance, where participants will share their creations in a warm, welcoming and celebratory setting.
‘Everyone Has a Story’ will foster empathy, connection and community by celebrating diverse voices and experiences across the province.
