Alberta Northern Lights recipient – Peggy Castellino

On November 26, 2025 Peggy Castellino was recognized for her commitment to making life better for Calgary seniors.

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Peggy Castellino is not one to rest on her laurels or simply recall fondly the decades of volunteer service that she has already logged; no, Peggy is busy building on those past achievements and making some new memories … and a lot of new friends.

As a resident of United Active Living, a Calgary-area seniors’ community, Peggy is known as the community connector and is the first to welcome a new resident into that community. It is a quality that has served her well as someone dedicated to community service – through her work as a teacher and as member of the Father Lacombe parish, where she spends hours as a volunteer with the Father Lacombe Care Society (FLCS).

Peggy is the first to step up to assist in sending out fundraising packages to prospective donors and supporting other communications initiatives. Sharing the fun and benefits of volunteerism, Peggy has recruited a number of United residents to join her in support of FLCS projects. Always upbeat and friendly, Peggy is happy to share her positivity with everyone around her.

Let us hope that we can keep help make that smile a little wider as we honour Peggy Castellino with Northern Lights Volunteer Recognition honours.
