Northern Lights recipient – Peace River Stampeders

Location: Peace River, Alberta

For members of the Peace River Stampeders men’s baseball team, success is about more than what shows up on the centerfield scoreboard – it is what they can do to grow the game and contribute to the community.

As 2023 Wheatbelt Baseball League champions, the Stampeders have also scored big wins with local youth, winning new fans and players by volunteering their time to host baseball camps for future diamond dwellers. Sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm, the Stamps are teaching skills and passing along their own passion for the grand ol’ game, taking every opportunity to serve as positive role models and ambassadors for the sport in the community. The team has also strived to promote inclusivity, seeking ways to make the game accessible and enjoyable to those with limited abilities.

Peace River’s ‘boys of summer’ are taking the game outside the lines and knocking it out of the park for their community. For that, the Peace River Stampeders can add Northern Lights Volunteer Recognition Program honours to their season of achievements.
