It is pretty clear that Marilyn Jorgensen and volunteerism go together as good as peanut butter and jelly.

For the past 5 years, Marilyn has been a driving force behind Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids, taking on numerous roles in an effort that is helping to ensure that more than 7,800 of the city’s students receive a nutritious lunch each school day. From coordinating volunteers to supporting the production of mountains of sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, baked goods and snacks, Marilyn’s versatility and willingness to roll up her sleeves on behalf of kids has made her an invaluable asset to the BB4CK team.

Feeding thousands of students is no mean feat and Marilyn brings to the operation management skills that have helped to improve efficiency and ensure that BB4CK consistently meets its targets. As an ambassador, Marilyn has advocated for BB4CK in the media, raising awareness and addressing critical community concerns while inspiring others to volunteer.

For her dedication and commitment to supporting the goal of alleviating food insecurity for Calgary families and fostering a healthier future for Alberta youth, Marilyn Jorgensen is a much deserving recipient of Northern Lights Volunteer Recognition honours.
