Lori Garner

Location: Raymond, Alberta

For theatres-goers in Raymond, whatever the performance, Lori Garner is a star of the show.

As a founding member of the Raymond Playhouse Society in 1985, Lori Garner has played a pivotal role in support of the community arts and theatre scene in Raymond for more than 38 years, 18 of those years as president of the Raymond Playhouse Society. Her hand has helped to guide the more than 35 plays and shows that the Raymond Playhouse Society has performed, helping to account for more than 10,000 volunteer hours she has contributed to help support arts and culture in the community.

Lori’s efforts extend beyond the theatre world. Her work to support the fundraising and retrofitting to transform the one-time chapel of a local church in the town’s very own Broadway Theatre has created new access to facility space for dozens of other community groups!

Lori has become a mentor in teaching others in all aspects of theatre including directing, producing and acting. Her inspiring leadership and love of the theatre has resulted in hundreds of others stepping up as volunteers, contributing thousands of hours to help bring to the boards a wide array of productions over the years.

An invaluable member and supporter of amateur theatre in Southern Alberta, the spotlight shines on Lori Garner as Northern Lights Volunteer Recognition Program recipient.
