When the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the shut down of dine-in restaurants, Cathy Jacobs, the owner of Angel’s Café, had to decide what to do with her most recent supply order. Cathy and her staff chose to prepare and freeze meals to be given away to anyone in need.

After the initial batch of meals had been given to community members in need, Cathy decided to keep on working. She invited Calgarians to donate supplies to help their efforts, and she and her team continued to make and deliver free meals for anyone who needed one. As of April 20, Angel’s Café volunteers prepared, packaged and delivered more than 6,000 meals to people in need in Calgary.
