Location: Sucker Creek First Nation, Alberta
With a passion for service and a commitment to community, Belinda Willier can always be counted upon to step up in support of her neighbours on the Sucker Creek First Nation. For Belinda, action speaks louder than words and she has been a leader in advocating on behalf of missing and murdered Indigenous women and men. Even as she keeps the memory of those lost at the forefront, Belinda also works to ensure that such tragedies are not repeated, volunteering for community functions and speaking out for abused and traumatized women. Belinda is often the one those in need turn to as she willingly steps forward to help in finding the resources they need – asking for nothing more in return than to know she is doing what she can to keep people safe. Like the northern lights that shine above, Belinda Willier is helping to push back the darkness.
