Alberta became a province on September 1, 1905. In recognition of this anniversary and in celebration of our province’s unique spirit, culture and heritage, we have designated September 1 as Alberta Day.

We’re counting down to celebrate another memorable Alberta Day this year. Join us on September 1 for free public events that bring the fun for the whole family!

Free public events will take place at Edmonton’s Legislature Grounds and Calgary’s Heritage Park on September 1:

  • concerts with Alberta talent
  • a made-in-Alberta marketplace to sample and buy local products
  • kid-friendly entertainment, cultural workshops and hands-on activities
  • an epic drone show

Municipalities across the province are also hosting Alberta Day events.

For a listing of events taking place around the province, go to Events search.

Alberta Day is a celebration of everything Alberta, from the past to the present. If you can't get out to an event, celebrate your own way!
