See event listings and more articles in this edition of Agri-News: August 29, 2022 issue

“Farmers’ markets are big business in Alberta with over $900 million in annual sales,” says Eileen Kotowich, farmers’ market specialist with the Alberta government. “Entering this market channel with the right skills can shorten your learning curve and enhance your success. If you are a new vendor, want to refresh your knowledge or manage a farmers’ market and want to learn skills that you can share with your vendors, these sessions are for you.”

Participants will learn about various aspects of being a vendor at a farmers’ market, from regulations to displays.

“Not only will participants hear about the latest trends and the opportunities for selling at a farmers’ market, they will also build an understanding of the benefits and challenges of selling into this market channel and learn tips for choosing a market.”

Presenters will also discuss regulations that apply to farmers’ markets and why they matter, different costs to consider when thinking about becoming a farmers’ market vendor, the importance of a good display and how to make a display stand out in the market, and some dos and don’ts when applying for a market.

These workshops are presented by the Alberta Farmers’ Market Association, Bountiful Farmers’ Market and Leduc County.
