For 75 years, the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame has celebrated the people who have shaped Alberta agriculture. Established in 1951, it is Agriculture and Irrigation’s oldest and most prestigious recognition program, honouring individuals whose outstanding and lasting contributions have shaped Alberta agriculture and rural communities through their leadership, innovation, research, education and service.
Every two years, up to three individuals are selected for induction. Nominees may come from any part of the agricultural community, including primary production, research, education, agri-food processing, rural leadership, policy and industry advocacy. What unites them is the lasting influence of their work and its impact at the provincial level or beyond.
Since 1951, 144 Albertans have been inducted into the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame, recognizing excellence in industry leadership and service to rural communities. As the Hall of Fame marks its 75th anniversary, it continues to celebrate the individuals whose vision, innovation and dedication have helped shape Alberta agriculture. While the award recognizes individual achievement, it also celebrates the collaboration and community spirit that have helped shape Alberta agriculture for generations.
The Hall of Fame is more than a recognition program. It preserves the history of Alberta agriculture by celebrating the individuals whose leadership and service have helped shape the industry. By sharing these stories, the Hall of Fame highlights the impact agriculture has had on Alberta's economy and rural communities while inspiring future generations of producers, researchers, entrepreneurs and industry leaders. Recognizing agricultural excellence also encourages continued collaboration and growth across the sector.
The 75th anniversary is an opportunity for agricultural organizations, rural communities, colleagues, friends and family members to consider the people whose contributions deserve to become part of Alberta’s agricultural history.
Nominations close October 23, 2026.
Successful nominees will join an esteemed group of Hall of Fame inductees and be formally recognized at an induction ceremony in 2027.
Nomination forms, eligibility information and profiles of past inductees are available on the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame webpage.
