Use of agreement
The Agreement for Movement of Raw Forest Products is required when a mill wants to move raw forest products at dimensions and weights that exceed regulated limits on highways in the province. The mill and the province must both sign this agreement before any carrier can haul increased dimensions and weights to the mill.
Maps and addendums
Each vehicle hauling increased dimensions or weights must have a permit, which is valid for all mills in the province. See Log haul permits and maps.
In addition, each vehicle hauling for or on behalf of a mill will need one of the following:
Maps
Before any mills can allow vehicles to haul logs at weights or dimensions exceeding regulated weights, the mill must apply for permission to use designated routes.
To request a route, mills must submit:
Once routes are approved and an agreement is signed, the mill will receive a colour-coded map. Mills may also produce their own maps, which must be approved by the province.
Addendums
An addendum is required when a cut block is accessed using public roadways which are not shown as approved routes on the colour map.
To request an addendum route, the mill must submit:
See how to complete an addendum request.
Weight monitoring
Scales
Mills with a permanent scale must monitor and control all loaded vehicles entering their yard.
See Section K of the agreement if hauling weights greater than regulated weights.
Reports
When winter weights are in effect, mills must report monthly all overweights recorded for vehicles hauling for or on behalf of the mill. Use the Winter Weight Overweight Report template.
See Item 4.2 and Appendix 7 of the agreement for more details on reporting for inspection at government weigh scales.
Winter weight notice
Mills will receive written notice when winter weights come into effect in their area. After receiving this notice, the mill may allow vehicles to start hauling at winter weights.
Each vehicle must have a:
- Dimension/Winter Weight Log Haul Permit
- validated route map for that vehicle and configuration
After winter weights end
Mills will also receive written notice when winter weights are removed in their area. After this notice, the mill must direct vehicles to stop hauling at winter weights.
Once winter weights are removed, the dimensions listed on the Dimension/Winter Weight Log Haul Permit are still valid, provided the weights do not exceed regulated Limits.
See Log haul permits and maps.
