There is a wildfire approximately 22 km west of Edson located south of Marlboro and Hwy 16. The wildfire is heading north. Highway 16 is not accessible to traffic and both east and west traffic are being routed back. Several residences in the area south of highway 16 have been evacuated.

Several homes have been evacuated and Yellowhead County Protective Services are working with other agencies for firefighting and evacuation. Protective Services are in the area to assist with the evacuation. A reception centre has been set up at the Best Western Hotel in Edson (300 52 St, Edson, AB). Residents who are being evacuated can check in at the reception centre. A phone number for evacuees will be set up shortly.
