Description: Alberta Emergency Alert: Overland Flow Flood Alert - in Woodlands County along Flats Road. Updated
Update 3 May 2018 @ 1030: Crews are working on the damaged portion of Flats Road and the State of Local Emergency remains in effect. Barricades continue to be manned and remain in place. Please continue to avoid the area.
Public Safety is still a concern and Woodlands County is working on a re-entry plan for all residents. A tentative target to ensure essential services and access have been completed and restored is 4-5 days from May 2, as Flats Road is extremely damaged in portions. The Ice Jam on the Athabasca River in the Flats Road area broke up and dissipated, Tuesday morning. Water is beginning to recede from the area, however, Flats Road remains impassable East of the Town of Whitecourt boundary in Woodlands County. Flats Road continues to be barricaded and people are asked to avoid the area until further notice. 3 residents on the east end of Flats Road have been allowed to return to their homes.
