Description: Alberta Emergency Alert: Overland Flow Flood Alert - in Woodlands County along Flats Road. Updated
There is a large amount of water travelling across land. The Athabasca River has risen significantly since 4:30am causing flooding along Flats Road. This is leading to localized flooding along flats Road in Woodlands County resulting in road closure & hazards. Residents are currently being evacuated, Flats Road is impassible, people are to avoid the area. Barricades and signs are being placed
Update: 1840 - Localized flooding continues and Flats Road remains closed. Staff are still monitoring the area and will continue to do so throughout the night. Updates will be posted should changes occur. There is overland flooding along Flats Road due the Athabasca River rising this morning. A State of Emergency was declared at 6:10 a.m. Residents are being evacuated along Flats Road. Please avoid the area. Field staff are monitoring the situation and updates will be found on our website at www.woodlands.ab.ca
