Update 1 May 2018 @ 1145: The Ice Jam on the Athabasca River in the Flats Road area has broken up and dissipated. Water is beginning to recede from the area, however, Flats Road remains impassable East of the Town of Whitecourt boundary in Woodlands County. People are asked to please continue to avoid the area until further notice as safety is still a concern.
Flats Road continues to be barricaded and people are asked to avoid the area until further notice. 10+ Residences affecting 34 individuals were evacuated. Flats Road is impassible East of the Town of Whitecourt boundary, people are to avoid the area. A State of Local Emergency was declared at 6:10 a.m. on 28 April 2018.
