This report summarizes the responses to the survey. -
Foundational Learning Assistance Program
Under the Student Financial Assistance Act, $82.2 million was available in 2025-26 through the Foundational Learning Assistance to provide financial assistance to unemployed or under-employed Albertans to upskill or re-skill for in-demand jobs and re-attach to the labour market.
Albertans may receive funding to assist with living costs, tuition, books, supplies, transportation and childcare while attending any of the approved foundational learning and skills development programs offered at 41 educational institutions across Alberta.
Foundational learning programs include academic upgrading (Grades 10-12), adult basic education (Grades 1-9) and English as an additional language. Skill development programs include integrated foundational pathways, pre-apprenticeship programs and transitional vocational programs. -
