Youth employment rules engagement

Provide input on the proposed list of light work duties that can be done by workers under 18.

Engagement status: Open until June 29, 2018
Ministry responsible: Labour

Overview

We all want to make sure young workers are safe on the job. That’s why workers under 18 have specific rules under Alberta’s law.

Youth employment rules were included in the recent review of Alberta’s labour laws. Stakeholder input helped inform the proposed list of jobs that young workers can do without a permit, known as the light work list.

We’re asking Albertans to provide input on the proposed light work list before it is finalized.

Engagement

Tell us how the changes to the light work list will keep young workers safe and healthy.

  1. Review the proposed light work list (PDF, 28 KB)

Outcomes

Your feedback will help us understand how these changes will keep young workers safe and what this may mean for your business or employment.

The intent is for these changes to take effect by September 1, 2018.
