Albertans weighed in on proposed changes to the Condominium Property Amendment Act to better protect home buyers through an online survey.

Essential Services Legislation

Ministry: Jobs, Skills, Labour and Training
Alberta is considering the introduction of essential services legislation for public sector collective bargaining dispute resolution. The legislation could provide the right to strike for many public sector employees, while also ensuring the health, safety and well-being of Albertans is protected in the event of a public sector work stoppage. Albertans were invited to share their comments online.

Payday Loans Regulation Consultation

Albertans were asked to share their opinions and experiences with payday loans through an online survey. All payday lenders operating in Alberta are licensed under the regulation, which expires on June 30, 2016.

Building and Fire Codes Consultation

Ministry: Municipal Affairs
Proposed changes to Alberta Building Codes and the Alberta Fire Code are expected to be adopted by Fall 2013.

Local Authority Election Act

This public review helped to keep municipal and school board elections secure and fair. Changes from this review are expected to be put in place before the 2013 municipal elections.

Fatal Accidents Act Review

Albertans shared their thoughts on possible changes to compensation that some family members of a deceased person can claim. The final report will be tabled in the Legislative Assembly.

Highway 63 Consultation

Thousands of Albertans dialed in or logged on to discuss important safety recommendations for Highway 63.

Hilliard's Bay Provincial Park

Ministry: Tourism, Parks and Recreation
Comments were taken on the proposed re-zoning of 50 acres of land within Hilliard's Bay Provincial Park (near Lesser Slave Lake). The land would be re-zoned from a natural environment zone to a facility zone.

Ministry: Sustainable Resource Development. Regional planning for southern Alberta: the Rockies to Saskatchewan, the American border to the tip of the Municipal District of Bighorn.

Culture Survey

Ministry: Culture and Community Services. Following Culture Forum 2012, which involved nearly 400 community leaders from across the province, Albertans shared their thoughts on our province's cultural future through an online survey.

2015

Public Opinion Research

  • Client Satisfaction Survey - March 2015
    March 4-27, 2015. This survey examines awareness and satisfaction with Government information sources, usefulness, timeliness, clarity and accuracy of information and the sources through which Albertans access government information.
  • Pre-budget Research - February 2015
    Feb. 5-11, 2015. Potential budget measures and general awareness of the province's fiscal condition are measured.

Omnibus Surveys

The questions in these items are the Alberta Government's portion of a larger survey, conducted monthly by Environics Research Group. These surveys are telephone surveys conducted with approximately 1,000 Albertans (exceptions as noted) each month.

Due to the provincial election, acting under 'Caretaker Conventions,' the Public Affairs Bureau did not commission any Public Opinion Research in the first half of 2015.

    July 21-27, 2014. This survey explores how Albertans access information provided by the Alberta Government and measures current views on a new licence plate and the Organ and Tissue Donor Registry.
  • Alberta Image and Market Access Survey – July 2014
    May 16-June 13, 2014. This survey tracked Canadians' views on oil sands development, economic and social impacts or benefits and attitudes towards stakeholders.
  • Primary Education Issues Survey — May 2014
    April 25 - May 4, 2014. This survey examines perceptions of the primary (K-12) education system in Alberta, including curriculum.
  • Client Satisfaction Survey — March 2014
    Telephone survey conducted with 1,002 Albertans from February 18 to March 11, 2014. This survey explores how Albertans access information provided by the Alberta Government.
  • Post-Budget 2014 Survey — March 2014
    Telephone survey conducted with 1,002 Albertans from March 10 - 16, 2014. This survey provides a more detailed assessment of Albertans' opinions on Budget 2014, as well as thoughts on the province's direction as a whole.

    In this wave, Albertans' familiarity with and relative interest in the Government's priorities are measured.
  • Omnibus Public Opinion Survey – September 2014
    After having introduced an organ donor registry earlier in the year, this survey measures if awareness of the registry continues to increase.
  • Omnibus Public Opinion Survey – August 2014
    This survey asks Albertans about their awareness of workplace safety issues.
  • Omnibus Public Opinion Survey — May 2014
    May 9 - 17, 2014. This survey examines Albertans' attitudes towards options for enhancing the traffic ticket dispute process.
  • Omnibus Public Opinion Survey — April 2014
    April 11 - 19, 2014. This survey assesses Albertans' familiarity with Budget 2014 after two months.
  • Omnibus Public Opinion Survey — March 2014
    March 7 - 16, 2014. This survey assesses Albertans' opinions about Budget 2014 and follows up on January 2014's flood questions.
  • Omnibus Public Opinion Survey — February 2014
    February 14 - 23, 2014. This survey tracks awareness of labour negotiations from January, asks Albertans thoughts on the government's salary disclosure and looks at how Albertans feel about prostitution.
  • Omnibus Public Opinion Survey — January 2014
    January 10 - 19, 2014. This survey assesses how Albertans feel about public sector labour negotiations as well as the government's response and mitigation efforts following the June 2013 floods.

    Telephone survey conducted between October 1 - 6, 2013.
    This survey asks Albertans about options available to the Government in labour negotiations.
  • Alberta Flood Response Research — August 2013
    Online survey conducted with 800 Albertans, which includes portions completed only by Albertans impacted by the June 2013 floods (n = 317), from August 12 - 20, 2013.
    The survey provides a detailed assessment of the Alberta Government's flood response, including performance, availability of information and awareness of programs.
  • Opinions on Government Response to Flooding in Southern Alberta — June 2013
    Online survey conducted with 1,129 Albertans from June 24 - 27, 2013.
    This survey asked Albertans to evaluate the Alberta Government's initial response to the June 2013 floods.
  • Post-Budget — April 2013
    Telephone survey conducted with 1,000 Albertans from April 3 - 18, 2013.
    This survey provides a more detailed assessment of Albertans' opinions on Budget 2013, as well as thoughts on the province's direction.

    This survey asks Albertans about what they've heard recently in regards to oil sands and the environment.

    Telephone survey conducted between August 9 - 18, 2013.
    This survey looks at how Albertans access information provided by the Alberta Government, and asks Albertans what information they would like to be able to obtain from alberta.ca.

    This survey continues to track opinions on the Alberta Government's flood response.

    Telephone survey conducted with 831 Albertans from June 14 - 22, 2013.
    This survey looks at awareness of recent government publications as well as Albertans' choice of news sources. Smaller number of respondents is due to interruptions caused by flooding in southern Alberta.

    Telephone survey conducted with a total of 2,500 Albertans (five waves of 500 respondents) from January 12 - 27, 2013.
    This survey tracks awareness of Premier Redford's television address, and potential budget challenges in early 2013.

    Telephone survey conducted with 800 Albertans from July 19-31, 2012.
    The survey suggests that Albertans are satisfied with the performance of the government and feel it is headed in the right direction.
  • Alberta Public Opinion Survey — March 2012
    Telephone survey conducted between March 1 - 18, 2012.
    68% of respondents are satisfied with the province's direction.
    Public confidence is highest in government's ability to address employment (74%), the economy (70%) and oil and gas industry (68%)
  • Alberta Budget Survey — February 2012
    Telephone survey of 1,000 adult Albertans. Interviews conducted between February 9 - 17, 2012.
