Overview
Alberta stakeholders and the landowners they partner with through existing programs can help shape and improve private land conservation across the province.
In Alberta, the conservation of private land supports natural landscapes and helps sustain healthy fish and wildlife populations, and conserves ecological services. This benefits the economy and human health, and enhances recreational opportunities for Albertans.
We are planning to develop new options and refine existing tools for private land conservation. These improvements will help protect our natural landscapes while encouraging social and economic growth in our communities.
All input received will be considered to ensure our approach to private land conservation meets the needs of Albertans today and in the future.
Get informed
We support local private land conservation efforts through the Land Trust Grant Program. Expanding land conservation tools will help us better support the goals of landowners for their families and the properties they manage.
Stakeholder engagement
Targeted stakeholders and the landowners they partner with through existing programs can share their perspectives on and experiences with land conservation options from November to December 2024, through an online workshop and written submissions.
Outcomes
Feedback will help us develop new land conservation options for implementation in 2025.
