International offices – Latin America

Alberta’s offices in Latin America promote Alberta’s economic and policy interests in the region.

Overview

The Alberta Mexico Office works to build stronger, mutually beneficial economic ties between Alberta, Mexico and Latin America.

Alberta’s ties with Mexico and Latin America

Mexico is one of Alberta’s most important trading partners. The Alberta Mexico Office continues to cooperate and engage with individual states to advance trade and investment across a variety of sectors, including energy, agriculture, forestry, manufacturing and tourism.

Since the North American Free Trade Agreement was signed in 1994, Mexico has been one of Alberta’s fastest-growing export markets and has become the province’s fourth largest trading partner.

Improved economic performance, a number of new free trade agreements and negotiations between Canada and countries in the region have made Latin America an area of expanding opportunity for Alberta.
