Introduction
The Vehicle Inspection Program mirrors that of the other provinces and territories. We inspect and monitor vehicles coming into the province and vehicles that have been in a collision to maintain a safe highway system. Out-of-province inspections must be conducted in a licensed facility, by a journeyperson technician. All inspection facilities are licensed by the Vehicle Inspection Program.

Salvage vehicle inspections
A salvage vehicle must be inspected by a licensed technician and registered before it can be re-registered in Alberta.
Out-of-province vehicle inspections
Vehicles registered outside Alberta must pass an inspection before licence plates are issued.
