Overview
We gathered input from stakeholders on proposed amendments to the Surveys Act to reflect modern surveying methods and reduce red tape.
Forestry and Parks, formerly Environment and Parks, worked with the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association (ALSA) to discuss ways to modernize the Surveys Act. Portions of the Act were outdated and no longer aligned with current processes, practices, or technologies used in modern surveying.
Input received
From 2019 through May 2021, affected stakeholders and municipalities shared their feedback on proposed changes to the Surveys Act that were identified by the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association. Together, they identified numerous potential changes to reflect current practices, methods and expectations around roles.
Outcomes
Feedback informed amendments to the Surveys Act. An updated act was released in November 2022.
