Wildfire update

Calgary Forest Area - June 03, 2025

Moderate wildfire danger

The overall wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area is now moderate. Hot and dry conditions have given way to scattered rainfall and cooler temperatures across the area. The forecast is calling for continued cooler temperatures with the possibility of additional showers, before more stable and warm conditions set back in. The wildfire danger is likely to increase again going into the weekend.

Wildfires can still start in cool, damp conditions. Be cautious if you’re spending time outdoors and do your part to prevent wildfires. If you see smoke in the forest, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE (3473).

Fire advisory

A fire advisory remains in effect for the Calgary Forest Area.

Under this fire advisory:

  • Existing fire permits remain valid but will not be extended.
  • New permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis for essential burning only.
  • Fireworks and exploding targets are prohibited.

Always use extra care and attention when enjoying a wood campfire. Never leave it unattended. When it’s time to put it out, remember to soak it, stir it, and soak it again to ensure it’s completely extinguished and safe.

The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve or further escalation to a fire restriction is warranted.
