Overview

The Borealis Health Regional Advisory Council engages with communities to identify health care priorities and advise Alberta’s government on ways to make health care better in the region. The council is made up of community members who are passionate about health care. Members come from all walks of life including parents and grandparents who are familiar with the health system, health professionals, and local community leaders living in the northwestern region.

The council region extends to the Northwest Territory border and includes communities such as Rainbow Lake, High Level, Fort Vermilion, La Crete, Buffalo Head Prairie, Carcajou, Dene Tha΄ First Nation, Beaver First Nation, Little Red River First Nation, and Tall Cree First Nation, as well as Paddle Prairie Métis Settlement.

Role

The Government of Alberta created the regional advisory councils and tasked members with amplifying local voices and bringing forward local health priorities. The Borealis Health council's role is to explore solutions to health care issues and present recommendations to improve the health system.

Survey purpose

The survey will enable the Borealis Health council to gather local community input on what are the priority health care issues in the region such as:

  • Access to family doctors
  • Surgery access and wait time
  • Travel costs to access health care
  • Recruitment of health care professionals

The council will use the information collected through this survey to:

  • Identify issues that may require further discussion or engagement
  • Help determine council priorities for the coming year
  • Inform council advice and recommendations

The survey is anonymous. Please do not enter any personal details about yourself in any open text response boxes. Demographic information about community is only to confirm you reside in the council region. This survey will take about 3-5 minutes to complete.
