Overview
The first Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy was released 2022. The strategy outlines the government's vision to make Alberta an internationally recognized technology and innovation hub that develops and attracts talent, business, and investment to grow the technology sector and diversify the province’s economy.
We are seeking feedback from select innovation ecosystem stakeholders to inform progress on the 2022 strategy and to inform a renewed strategy.
Stakeholder input will help assess the progress made towards achieving the Strategy’s outcomes and renew it to effectively address the evolving needs of the technology and innovation ecosystem and to accelerate the growth of a resilient, future-focused economy through innovation.

Stakeholder engagement
From April to June 2025, we will be engaging with select stakeholders from industry, government, agencies, business support organizations, investors, and post-secondary institutions. These engagements may take the form of in-person or virtual sessions, one-on-one discussions, roundtables, or surveys.
These invitation-only stakeholder engagements aim to:
- assess stakeholder perspectives on the effectiveness and impact of initiatives that support the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy
- identify key challenges and barriers that may hinder Alberta’s ability to meet its 2030 innovation targets
- capture forward-looking insights on emerging opportunities, industry needs, and suggestions to strengthen the strategy
Outcomes
Stakeholder feedback will help us assess progress made to date on achieving the outcomes of the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy and to develop a renewed strategy that will continue to support the growth of the technology and innovation sector in Alberta.
