Alberta India Advisory Committee

The committee supports Alberta’s efforts to grow trade and investment ties with India, one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

Overview

The Alberta India Advisory Committee was established in June 2025 to support the Alberta government’s ongoing work to develop economic corridors and enhance trade between Alberta and India. The committee’s role is to help Alberta’s government better understand economic opportunities and challenges in Alberta-India trade, investment and collaboration.

Responsibilities

The committee is a non-governmental committee and does not have decision-making authority.

Committee members do not represent Alberta's government nor speak on its behalf.

The role of the committee is to provide Alberta’s government with information for considering in Alberta’s efforts to pursue new pathways for collaboration with India.

Membership

The committee may consist of up to 10 members appointed for up to a 2-year term and convenes on a quarterly basis.

The committee currently has 9 volunteer members who participate without renumeration.

    Parliamentary Secretary Shane Getson

    Shane Getson was appointed the Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Corridor Development on July 13, 2023. He previously served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Corridors.

    Prior to serving as an elected official, Mr. Getson was the owner of Major Projects Consulting Company, a civil engineering technologist, and a private pilot.

    Shane Getson was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland on April 16, 2019 and was re-elected on May 29, 2023.
