Adoption profile – Macklen and Harvey

Macklen and Harvey are sweet and engaging brothers who will benefit from the stability and continuity of a forever family where they can be welcomed together.

Harvey, born in 2017, is a happy and polite youngster with lots of energy and a desire to be helpful to those he’s close to. Being a morning person, he is known to greet the day with enthusiasm and vigour! With that enthusiasm in mind, this active and athletic boy will happily engage in all manner of physical and creative pursuits. From playing soccer and basketball, to swimming, riding his bike, snowboarding in winter and golfing, he can shift gears to spending time crafting, painting, or building with Lego. Reading is an absolute favorite pastime for Harvey and he is known to read well past his bedtime if not monitored!

Harvey attends a regular school program where he receives support in his learning. He performs at grade level and specifically enjoys writing. Structure, predictable routines and dedicated meditation and quiet time are strategies that help him maintain focus and calm in the learning environment. He likes to take a leadership role in his peer relationships and when playing team sports.

Macklen, born in 2015, is a sweet boy who can present as shy and quiet until he has the time to develop familiarity and comfort with new people. When given the time and space to do so, he is delighted to connect and share his interests with others! At the moment he is especially intrigued by airplanes and the Titanic, reading what he can about them and creating detailed drawings from memory. He and Harvey share the same love of reading and their artistic sides, with Macklen’s creativity expressed through a love of music and building complex structures from household items or Lego.

Macklen’s educational needs are met by sharing time between a specialized and regular class. His adapted program allows him to meet his learning and behaviour goals in a smaller setting, with the expectation that he will transition full-time to a regular class in due course. He enjoys learning, interacting with his peers and participating in the classroom routine.

Harvey and Macklen are lovely boys who will do well within a loving, active and committed 2 parent family with either younger or older children in the home. Their forever family will see them thrive when provided positive regard, reasonable expectations and consistent structure. Keeping them well connected to their sibling, birth mother and grandmother will be very important to them and to their wellbeing.
