The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) continues to accept and process applications and Expressions of Interest (EOIs), with temporary adjustments to some application and assessment processes.

The following numbers are accurate as of May 26, 2022.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sets the limits for nominations the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) can issue each year. IRCC provided 6,250 nomination certificates to Alberta for 2021.
The AAIP has issued all 6,250 certificates for 2021. The AAIP will continue to assess applications in the queue; however, no further certificates will be issued until January 2022.
There are approximately 1,050 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 750 expression of interest applications in the Alberta Express Entry pool.

Approximate volumes and assessment dates for each AAIP stream or category are provided below.
'Assessing' means an AAIP officer has been assigned a file to make an assessment and decision on eligibility.
Applications received after the date stated below have not yet been assigned to an officer for assessment.

The AAIP works closely with Alberta Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Economic Development to assess the eligibility of applicants under this stream. Processing times are not available.
The AAIP has a high volume of applications and Alberta Express Entry submissions in the following occupations. These submissions may take longer to process.
The AAIP regularly reviews available candidates in the federal Express Entry pool. Based on available profile information in the portal, the AAIP draws to select candidates from the pool, inviting them to submit a completed application to the AAIP. Information on Alberta Express Entry Stream Notification of Interest factors is included on the eligibility page.
