Description: This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. Woodlands County has issued an Evacuation Order for an area along the McLeod River.

Rising waters on the McLeod River are causing overland flooding and washing out roads. River flows are expected to peak late this evening at the earliest and remain high until at least Friday.

Area: This alert is in effect for everyone on Old Ferry Loop South and Cutbanks Rd: Old Ferry Loop south of Twp Rd 594 to McLeod River, from RR 125 to RR 123B and west to McLeod River. Along Cutbanks Rd/ RR 122, RR 123A, RR 593A.

Affected areas (1):

  • Woodlands County

Action to take:

  • Everyone in the affected area must evacuate immediately
  • Gather pets, important documents, and medication
  • A Reception Center is open at Woodlands County Office, 1 Woodlands Lane, Whitecourt or 1-888-870-6315 to register
  • Call 9-1-1 for emergency assistance
  • Do not move or bypass barricades
  • Avoid driving through flooded areas
  • Travel with extreme caution.
