Interactive aggregate data on respiratory related cases in Alberta
The Government of Alberta has started reporting respiratory virus data twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Data posted on Tuesdays is considered preliminary and subject to change as more information becomes available. Thursday updates will provide a more comprehensive view of the previous week.
Circulation of respiratory viruses is normally highest in the fall and winter. For the purposes of reporting and comparisons over time and between viruses, the respiratory season typically runs from late August of the current year to late August of the following year. The current season, 2025-2026, starts on August 24, 2025 and ends on August 29, 2026. Additional information on respiratory season, and a full calendar for the current season, can be found on the Data Notes page.
Respiratory virus data included in the interactive data application is up-to-date as of March 14, 2026. Among its new features, the dashboard now includes RSV Severe Outcomes data.

Respiratory virus test positivity by week for the 2025-2026 season compared to historical trends
Grey shaded area represents historical minimum and maximums for percent positivity. The dotted grey line represents the historical average positivity during that respiratory week. Historical calculations are based on the previous five seasons. For COVID-19, everything prior to the 2019-2020 season is excluded. For influenza, everything prior to the 2019-2020 season is excluded.
