Previous Alberta immunization records without a QR code, including ones from vaccine providers and those saved from MyHealth Records, will no longer be accepted as proof of vaccination by the program effective Nov. 15.
Patrons entering businesses and venues taking part in the REP will be required to show one of the following:
- Alberta vaccine record with a QR code
- Canadian Armed Forces vaccine record
- First Nations immunization record
- Vaccine records issued by other provinces and territories
- ArriveCan app for international travellers and valid international travel identity document
- Negative privately paid COVID-19 test from within the previous 72 hours
- Valid proof of medical exemption
The enhanced Alberta vaccine record is available through alberta.ca/CovidRecords. Albertans can also get a printed vaccine record with QR code at no cost by visiting a registry agent office or by calling 811. Records can be printed or displayed on a phone.

Businesses and operators can use the AB Covid Records Verifier app to confirm their patrons’ vaccination status meets the program’s requirements. Alberta’s verifier app can now scan records with QR codes issued by other provinces and territories. Currently, other provinces and territories are testing using their apps to scan Alberta’s vaccine records.
Quick facts
- Businesses must check for a valid ID that matches the name and date of birth on the vaccine record for adults 18 years and older with any type of accepted proof of vaccination.
- If it is not possible to scan a vaccine record, a business or organization must do a visual check of the record to ensure the patron has received the correct number of doses at least 14 days earlier.
- Albertans will need to enter the month and year of vaccination of any dose, Alberta Personal Health Number and date of birth to access their proof of vaccination with a QR code through alberta.ca/CovidRecords, without creating an account. It may take two weeks for the record to be available after getting immunized.
- The record can be printed, saved by taking a screenshot or downloaded on a phone. It can also be added to the Apple Wallet and the QR code can be added as a loyalty card on Google Pay.
- Anyone who has missing or incorrect information on their vaccine record or problems accessing it, can go to alberta.ca/CovidRecordsHelp.
- Currently, 38 out of 48 First Nations can access the enhanced record with a QR code through alberta.ca/CovidRecords. Alberta’s government continue to work with the remaining First Nations to add their immunization records in the coming weeks.
- Creating or using a false vaccination record is an offence subject to prosecution and/or fines of up to $100,000 for a first-time offence.
