Aboriginal Futures serves the urban Indigenous population in Calgary and the surrounding area. Our career development practitioners can assist you with individual career counselling, action plan development, access to funding, resumé and cover letter writing, job search preparation, interview coaching, access to telephones and computers, referrals to other community services, and much more.

Service description: This program features adaptive skill training, and provides attendees with tools that help them to adapt to the current labour market given their personal circumstances. You will apply learned skills in real life scenarios and expect to gain understanding in why you do the things you do in work and personal situations, as well as changing your thought process. You will build adaptability and set realistic goals to overcome your fears through experimental mindset.

Service description: ArtRecruits is an innovative online program that builds workplace skills through engaging arts based projects and collaboration. There is an emphasis on increasing digital literacy, job search skills and placement. This program assists individuals who identify with a mental health disability. ArtRecruits delivers 12 weeks of online classes followed by 12 weeks of job search and placement activities. This includes an employer collaboration and art exhibition.

Service description: ArtRecruits’ overarching objective is to support adults with mental health disabilities to increase their labour market participation and gain independence by assisting them to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment. The program will serve 48 clients through four (4),12-week employability skills sessions of 12 clients per session followed by 12-weeks employment placement, retention support, and follow up (combined 24 weeks).

Service description: Clients will progress through 16 weeks of skill development workshops, seminars, lectures, activities, one-on-one sessions and exposure courses. Clients will have periodic daily work experience or volunteer experience opportunities. Clients will access a 12 weeks of paid Work Exposure with an employer. All clients can access one on one client supports such as: Employment Support Worker, Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, Recovery Coach, Occupational Therapist , Placement Coordinator, Disability Employment Advocate, Housing Navigator and Financial Empowerment assistance.
