Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - Train Accident Alert At Irvine In Cypress County Updated

There is a train derailment on the west side of the hamlet of Irvine and situated along the north side of Highway 1 in Cypress County. The derailment involves damage along the railway line, chemical exposure, and disruption of road and highway access. Highway 1 has been closed down between Highway 41 North and the Hamlet of Walsh.

Highway 1 has been closed to all traffic both east and west bound between Highway 41 North and the hamlet of Walsh. In addition, the previous detour route north of Walsh and Irvine using Range Road 12, and Township Road 132 has also been closed. The public is further advised to avoid travel in this area, and to expect delays for east and west bound travel until available access roads become open.   • A train has derailed
  • Evacuate immediately to the emergency evacuation reception center at the Cypress County Administration Office in Dunmore
  • Avoid the area as highway and road access has been closed off to all east and west bound traffic in the vicinity
