Description: Alberta Emergency Alert: County of Forty Mile Overland Flood Alert

There is a large amount of snow melt water travelling across land. This is leading to localized flooding, water flowing over and possibly eroding roadways. Travel through low areas may be hazardous.

The accumulation of snow and late seasonal warming has increased the risk of overland flooding. The increase in snow melt run off has resulted in the over topping and erosion of roads. Several roads in the County have been closed. Alternate routes should be taken. DO NOT travel through water covered roads as there may be unforeseen hazards. Use extreme caution as many of these locations have not been marked. Please call 403-867-3940 if you find an unmarked hazard.

Action to take:

  • Take all necessary precautions
  • Follow the directions of local authorities
  • Do not travel through water covered roads
  • Avoid the area
  • Listen for further updates and follow the instructions that apply to your area.
