The woman was one of three occupants of a vehicle, believed to have been previously involved in a serious crime, that was spotted by Edmonton Police Service officers in the downtown area after 1 a.m. on Oct. 10, 2026

Police monitored the vehicle and its occupants as they drove out of downtown. After an initial attempt by police to stop the vehicle, the vehicle left the scene at high speed — at times driving into oncoming lanes and striking another vehicle at one point.

Following additional unsuccessful attempts by police to stop the vehicle, it left the road, rolled onto its side and came to rest near a line of trees in the area of 82 St. and Crystallina Dr.

Officers arriving at the scene ordered the occupants out of the vehicle, and arrested a man and a woman without incident. The third occupant, a woman, ran into the wooded area near the scene.

Police began a search of the woods, where a police dog and its handler found her. The 30-year-old woman sustained a dog-bite injury while being arrested and went to hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.
