Alberta’s government has extended the application deadline for the Alberta Energy Rebate to Oct. 31. This extension gives eligible Albertans who have not yet applied an extra 31 days to submit their applications for a one-time, direct payment of $100 to each eligible Albertan to help with the costs of everyday essentials.

“More than 1.45 million Albertans have already applied for and received the rebate. By extending the deadline, we are giving more families the time they need to apply and receive real relief.”
Jason Nixon, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance

Launched on July 1, the Alberta Energy Rebate puts increased revenues from high oil prices back in Albertans pockets. Eligible two-adult households can receive $200 in flexible relief that can be used for any household need, when and where it matters most. Families may also benefit from additional $100 rebates for each eligible adult family member or child aged 18 or older living in the same home.

To improve the application process, Alberta's government also added a third payment verification option to the online portal. In addition to online banking and document verification, applicants can apply for their Alberta Energy Rebate using their 2025 Notice of Assessment – making it faster and easier for more Albertans to complete their applications and receive their rebate.

Alberta’s government is committed to putting more money back in Albertans’ pockets, and starting Oct. 1, the province’s fuel tax relief program also kicks back in. This will save Albertans the full 13 cents per litre provincial fuel tax at the pump for the rest of the year as global uncertainly continues to push up energy prices.

Extending the Alberta Energy Rebate application deadline and suspending the fuel tax are just a few of the many ways Alberta’s government is using its strong financial position to keep costs down, ensuring Alberta remains the most affordable place in Canada to live work and raise a family.
