Through this next school bundle, Alberta’s government is moving forward with a group of elementary and junior high schools that will create space for more than 6,100 students in Edmonton, Calgary and Chestermere, helping to ease the pressure in classrooms and support Alberta’s growing communities.

“Alberta’s communities are growing, and families need schools that keep pace with that growth. These projects will ensure that families in Edmonton, Calgary and Chestermere have modern learning environments close to home.”

Martin Long, Minister of Infrastructure

“With almost 90,000 more students entering Alberta’s education system over the past four years, the need for new school spaces has never been greater. These projects will support growing communities, create new opportunities for students and build on the 161 school projects currently underway across the province.”

Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education and Childcare

Once completed, these new schools will provide modern learning spaces designed to create the best possible learning experience for students. Each school will follow consistent, modern design standards that support accessibility and student well-being.

“This project shows how the public-private partnership model delivers value in the right context through clear scope, repeatable design, long-term maintenance and strong accountability. Concert Infrastructure is proud to partner with the Government of Alberta, Bird, Wright, BR2 and Ainsworth to deliver high-quality schools for generations.”

Derron Bain, chief executive officer, Concert Infrastructure

This investment reflects Alberta’s commitment to delivering new schools for growing communities while ensuring the best value for taxpayer dollars. Through this bundle, Alberta’s government can accelerate delivery, streamline design and construction and support long-term maintenance while maintaining consistent standards and accountability.

Schools are the foundation of strong, thriving communities, and these new schools will provide welcoming learning environments that support student success and meet the needs of Alberta families for generations to come.
