“The impacts of addiction can be devastating, whether directly or through the struggles of a loved one, but for Albertans there is a path forward to a better life. During National Addictions Awareness Week, we reaffirm our belief in the importance of accessible, compassionate care under the Alberta Recovery Model and that recovery is possible with the right support.

“As the Alberta Recovery Model evolves, National Addictions Awareness Week is an important reminder of the need for services and supports that promote prevention and intervention along with increased access to treatment and recovery for all Albertans.

“I encourage Albertans to learn more about addiction and the services that can support you or your loved ones. Thousands of Albertans are on their recovery journeys, and they are living proof that recovery is possible.

“If you or someone you love is suffering from addiction or facing mental health challenges, help is available. Call 211 Alberta, the Virtual Opioid Dependency Program, or Counselling Alberta. Recovery is possible and no one has to walk that path alone.”
