Chestermere-Strathmore MLA Chantelle de Jonge will be in Washington, D.C, from Oct. 22 to 25 where she will rejoin state legislators from across the U.S. to wrap up the second half of training offered by LEHI. MLA de Jonge will build on learnings gathered when attending the first half of the two-part program this past July, while solidifying state-level connections, sharing ideas and elevating Alberta’s role as a stable and secure energy supplier to the U.S.
Programming explores the most pressing energy topics for today’s policymakers, with participants taking a deep dive into emerging energy sources, new technologies, U.S. energy imports and exports, industry needs and key considerations for tackling current and future energy policy, regulation and financing.
“Attending LEHI offers a valuable opportunity to learn from experts in energy policy and collaborate with legislators shaping policy discussions. Alberta plays a critical role as a responsible energy producer, and I look forward to deepening my understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our province.”
Founded in 2009 by the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER), University of Idaho and U.S. Department of Energy, LEHI offers exclusive training to elected officials from across the U.S. and Canada. Alumni include more than 400 state and provincial legislators, governors, advisors and policymakers, with all graduates of the program holding a certificate on energy policy planning through the University of Idaho.
Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
