Alberta will have an increased presence at one of the world’s most important energy conferences, running from March 10 to 14. International decision makers, industry leaders, technology innovators and government officials will gather to explore this year’s theme, Moving Ahead: Energy strategies for a complex world.

“At CERAWeek, I will be making it clear that Alberta is a critical partner in securing energy dominance for North America. It will also be an opportunity for me to raise directly how the recently imposed tariffs will hurt the American people, driving up costs for fuel, food, vehicles, housing and many other products. We will not let trade barriers undermine decades of cooperation that have made us stronger together. Alberta remains a reliable partner for the U.S. to keep energy abundant, affordable and secure.”

Danielle Smith, Premier

“When it comes to achieving long-term energy security, Alberta is the answer. We intend to showcase that at this year’s CERAWeek conference and strengthen relationships with industry and other jurisdictions to help us work together and build a low-carbon energy future.”

Brian Jean, Minister of Energy and Minerals

While attending CERAWeek, Premier Smith and Minister Jean will meet with international government officials and business leaders to promote Alberta’s responsible energy sector and the role the province can play in a secure energy future. They will also reassert Alberta’s place as a resource leader and reinforce the critical work being done to ensure the province is situated to provide both North American and global energy security while identifying additional ways to meet ever-evolving energy needs and reduce reliance on products from conflict zones. Both Premier Smith and Minister Jean will also participate in panel discussions and other speaking events during the conference.

Premier Smith will travel with five staff members and Minister Jean will travel with two staff members. Trip expenses for Premier Smith and Minister Jean will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.

Alberta’s government is committed to working with national and international partners to advance shared interests that can lead to new opportunities for people and businesses in Alberta and around the world. By working with industry, researchers and other governments, Alberta is implementing its Emissions Reduction and Energy Development Plan and offering a business-friendly environment primed for investment and growth.
