ASIRT concludes investigation into in-custody death
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has completed its investigation into an incident and released the executive director’s full report.
On April 6, 2020, pursuant to Sec. 46.1 of the Police Act, ASIRT was directed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a male individual while in the custody of the Calgary Police Service. ASIRT’s investigation is now complete.
ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
